Chasing the Wind on the Prairie: A Cycling Dream
In the hustle and bustle of the city, our hearts are wrapped in layers, like birds imprisoned in a cage, longing for the vast expanse and the gentle breeze of freedom. Until that time, I set foot on that boundless prairie, got on my bicycle, and embarked on a wonderful journey to embrace nature and have a conversation with myself.
When the wheels first touched the soft soil of the prairie, an unprecedented sensation spread from the soles of my feet, as if the earth was whispering ancient tales. As I looked out, green waves rolled, stretching all the way to the horizon, blending perfectly with the sky as blue as a gemstone in the distance. The white clouds were like cotton wool carelessly discarded in the sky, hanging low, as if I could reach out and touch them. The sun poured down unreservedly, casting a golden veil over the prairie. Every blade of grass sparkled with light, shining brightly as if warmly welcoming my arrival.
I pedaled, and the bicycle galloped forward like a nimble steed. A gentle breeze brushed against my face, carrying the fragrance of green grass, the scent of the earth, and the rich aroma of wildflowers. In an instant, it seeped into my heart and lungs, making me couldn't help but take a deep breath, wanting to inhale all of this pure natural fragrance. Along the way, colorful wildflowers were scattered among the grass, dotting the landscape. The red ones were like fire, the pink ones like rosy clouds, and the white ones like snow. They swayed in the wind, as if cheering and dancing for me. Occasionally, a few butterflies fluttered past and perched on the flowers, gently flapping their colorful wings, as if showcasing the most exquisite paintings of nature.
During the ride, the only sounds in my ears were the howling of the wind and the rustling of the wheels. Without the honking of cars and the noise of the crowd, the world had never been so quiet. In this silence, I could clearly hear my own heartbeat and feel the power of the blood surging through my veins. My thoughts were like a runaway horse, galloping freely. All those troubles that had been suppressed by daily trivia in the past were now left behind, and all that remained in my heart was the intoxication with the beautiful scenery before my eyes and the cherish for this freedom.
On the way, I came across several local herdsmen. They were riding horses, with vigorous postures and simple smiles on their faces. When they saw me, they waved warmly and shouted "Come on" in broken Mandarin. At that moment, the distance between people was shortened, and the strangeness and estrangement dissipated without a trace, leaving only sincerity and warmth. On this prairie, whether it's the travelers on bicycles or the herdsmen who have lived here for generations, we all share the gifts of this land, respecting each other and living in harmony.
As the sun set in the west, the sky was dyed orange-red, like a magnificent oil painting. At this time, the prairie was shrouded in the afterglow of warm colors, adding a bit more tranquility and beauty. I stopped my bicycle, sat on the ground, and looked at the setting sun in the distance, filled with emotions in my heart. This cycling trip on the prairie was an exile of the body and a spiritual practice of the soul. It allowed me to find myself that had been lost in the urban jungle and rekindled my love for life and my longing for the future.
When night fell and the stars dotted the sky, I knew that although this prairie cycling trip had come to a temporary end, the seed of freedom it planted in my heart would forever take root and sprout. It will inspire me to keep pursuing those beautiful corners where my soul can rest in the days to come and embark on another journey to dance with nature. Next time, would you like to get on a bicycle with me and go on this prairie rendezvous?
